I had that moment yesterday, while driving my son to hockey, in the snow, in the dark, the moment of, oh yes, in addition to the normal long and busy days, there is also Christmas to get ready for!
We start December thinking about gifts and decorations. Admittedly I have started with a few gifts, books on order from local bookstores, trying to make family calendars. Decorations – nope, haven’t started. And Christmas nears we start talking about food.
Food is connector. By sharing a meal or snacks with others it gives us a chance to connect, to chat, to unwind. And when you have a family that has allergies and food intolerances this can become very difficult very quickly.
One of my children can’t eat gluten, dairy and eggs. Another has an egg allergy. I have two teens that will eat anything and everything. Yannick is pescatarian. So I need to plan for all of this with Yannick’s French Canadian family, tortiere, nope, ragout, nope, turkey with stuffing, nope. So how do you share a meal with family when you have so many food allergies/preferences to include? It’s not easy – but bring years of experience to try and help. We have loads of allergen and vegan friendly food options in store to ensure you have something for everyone!
